WHO WE ARE

More Than a Place of Worship

Muhammad Mosque No. 14 is the Hartford, Connecticut, representative of the Nation of Islam, dedicated to the spiritual, moral, social, and economic development of our people and the communities we serve.

Under the divine guidance of Allah (God), through the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, we are committed to the resurrection, reformation, and restoration of the Black man and woman of America.

Our mission extends beyond the walls of the Mosque. We believe that true faith must be demonstrated through righteous conduct, service to humanity, strong families, productive communities, and a commitment to Freedom, Justice, and Equality.

We strive to be a source of spiritual guidance, moral leadership, education, and positive transformation throughout Greater Hartford.

We are more than a place of worship. We are a community of believers working to improve ourselves, strengthen our families, and help build a better society.
OUR HISTORY · ESTABLISHED IN THE 1950s

A Legacy of Faith
and Determination.

The history of the Nation of Islam in Hartford is rooted in the pioneering work of the 1950s, when Malcolm X, then a devoted minister and representative of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, helped establish Temple No. 14.

The early Muslim pioneers brought a powerful message of self-knowledge, self-respect, discipline, economic independence, and spiritual transformation to Hartford's Black community.

Their work helped establish an important chapter in the religious and social history of Connecticut.

“Our history reminds us
of where we began.”

Over the decades, the Nation of Islam's presence in Hartford has experienced periods of growth, transition, and renewal.

Today, Muhammad Mosque No. 14 carries forward the mission of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

We recognize the sacrifices of those who came before us and accept the responsibility of building upon their legacy.

“Our mission challenges us
to continue the work.”

OUR SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION

The Teachings That Guide Us

The Nation of Islam was established in 1930 with the coming of Master W. Fard Muhammad, whom we recognize as Allah (God) in Person.

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad was raised and taught by Master Fard Muhammad and commissioned to deliver a message of truth, freedom, justice, and equality to the Black man and woman of America.

Today, we continue this divine mission under the leadership and guidance of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

“Positive education
always corrects errors.”

Our spiritual foundation emphasizes:

01 The knowledge of Allah (God) and the knowledge of self.
02 The study of the Holy Qur'an and the Scriptures.
03 Moral excellence, righteousness, and personal responsibility.
04 The restoration of Black dignity, identity, and self-determination.
05 The development of strong marriages, families, and communities.
06 Freedom, Justice, and Equality for our people and all who are denied them.
07 Service to humanity and obedience to the Will of Allah (God).
We believe that spiritual transformation must produce a measurable improvement in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
